Oracle WebCenter Collaboration is a suite of collaboration tools that help you organize, share and manage information on your project. Its features and functions—which facilitate teamwork among members of a project team—include such items as announcements, calendars, tasks, documents, discussions, notifications, wikis, blogs, and project search.
Oracle WebCenter Collaboration provides project information through the following:
A set of portlets for integrating collaborative services into personalized pages, called My Pages, and community portal pages.
A unified workspace, called application view, integrated into the portal for efficient project management.
You can view these portlets either in a community page or a personal page, called My Page.
A project manager can configure Oracle WebCenter Collaboration portlets to display project calendars with milestones, events, and tasks; documents for project members to view or check-out; discussion messages to which members can reply; task lists with progress indicators in a community portal page; and recent announcements. For example, an engineering project manager might embed Oracle WebCenter Collaboration portlets in an engineering community page to display product milestones and release dates in a group calendar, threaded discussion messages about feature requests, or technical specification documents and feature lists.
Individual portal users can use a suite of portlets to track their involvement across multiple projects. Using these portlets, an employee can see from her My Page all the tasks for which she is responsible, all the documents that pertain to the project, all the events and milestones she needs to keep track of, and all the threaded discussions she is participating in—across all the projects in which she is involved.
